'AKROPOLIS' Press Conference 'AKROPOLIS' Press Conference

The Official Press Conference for Jean Michel Jarre’s ‘AKROPOLIS’ Concerts in Athens on June 19th & 20th 2001, took place today in Athens.

Jean Michel Jarre explained that the Concerts will include the use of Electronic & Classical Instruments, Choirs, Lights, Lasers, Video and Computers connected to the Internet.

“I’m really interested in trying to match the past and future. What is interesting is to put this kind of area in a contemporary context, almost futuristic context…the best way of respecting monuments and our history is to make them alive in our times.”

Jean Michel Jarre explained how he felt privileged and honoured to be able to perform at the Acropolis, and described ‘THE HYMN TO THE ACROPOLIS’, that he was asked to compose as a Theme for the Acropolis, as “an artistic, poetic tribute to the place.”

Jean Michel Jarre also explained that he has re-orchestrated some of his Classic Tracks for the occasion, “but the scenography itself is for the Acropolis and will never be repeated.”

Excerpts from the Official Press Conference, and the ‘AKROPOLIS’ Concerts Advert currently being shown on Greek Television, can be Downloaded from JARRE UK in DivX Format. JARRE UK would like to thank Vangelis Karastergios for providing these Videos.
